About Flourish
Flourish Foster Care Closet & Support, Inc. is a nonprofit organization serving children, youth, and families impacted by foster care throughout Northwest Georgia. Our mission is to provide practical support, meaningful resources, and opportunities that help children and young people move from immediate need toward long-term stability and success.
Our heart is simple: to walk alongside children from crib to career.
Flourish began with a desire to meet the everyday needs of children entering foster care—clothing, shoes, diapers, hygiene items, and other essentials that help a child feel cared for during an often difficult transition. Over time, that mission has grown to include broader support for foster families, kinship caregivers, older youth, and young adults preparing for life beyond the foster care system.
Today, Flourish provides clothing and essential items, educational opportunities, life-skills support, mentoring, meals, volunteer-driven programs, and community resources designed to help children and families not simply get through a difficult season, but truly flourish.
Our Mission
To support children, youth, and families impacted by foster care by providing practical resources, meaningful relationships, education, and opportunities that promote dignity, stability, and hope.
Our Vision
We envision communities where every child and young person touched by foster care has access to the resources, relationships, and support they need to grow into healthy, confident, prepared adults.
From Crib to Career
From Crib to Career describes the heart behind everything we do.
Our work may begin with something as simple as a package of diapers, a pair of shoes, or clothing for a child who has just entered care, but we believe our responsibility to these children should not end there.
As children grow, their needs change. Flourish is committed to creating programs and partnerships that continue supporting young people through childhood, adolescence, and the transition into adulthood.
That means helping meet immediate physical needs while also investing in education, life skills, mentoring, relationships, and preparation for the future.
Who We Serve
Flourish serves:
Children and youth in foster care
Foster families
Kinship and relative caregivers
Youth preparing to age out of foster care
Young adults transitioning toward independent living
Families experiencing foster-care-related transitions and emergencies
What We Do
Our programs are designed to meet both immediate and long-term needs.
Foster Care Closets
Children and families can receive clothing, shoes, baby supplies, hygiene items, and other essentials in a welcoming environment where dignity matters.
Flourish Delivered
Resources can be delivered or coordinated for families who may not be able to easily access one of our physical locations.
Provision Kitchen
Food and meal support help families during transitions, emergencies, programs, and support gatherings.
Loads of Love
Laundry support helps ensure children have clean, ready-to-wear clothing while easing one more practical burden for caregivers.
Youth Education & Life Skills
Flourish is developing educational and independent-living programming to help older youth build practical skills for adulthood, including financial literacy, employment preparation, healthy relationships, household management, and personal responsibility.
Mentoring & Community Support
We believe relationships matter. Through volunteers, community partnerships, and future programming, we are working to create a stronger network of trusted adults and resources around young people.
The Well — Summerville, Georgia
Flourish's newest facility, The Well, is located in a historic church campus in Summerville, Georgia.
The Well is being developed as an education and support hub for the foster care community. The facility will allow Flourish to expand beyond meeting immediate material needs and provide space for classes, mentoring, life-skills training, volunteer service, community gatherings, meals, support programs, and resources for older youth preparing for adulthood.
The name reflects what we hope the building becomes: a place where people come to be refreshed, strengthened, connected, and equipped for what comes next.
Our Story
Flourish was founded by Aimee Larsen, an educator, author, foster and adoptive parent, and longtime advocate for children and families.
What began as a response to needs witnessed within the foster care community has grown into an organization supported by volunteers, donors, churches, businesses, schools, and community partners who believe children deserve to be surrounded by people willing to show up for them.
At its core, Flourish is built on the belief that helping a child often begins with something practical—but it should never end there.
We want children to know they are seen.
We want caregivers to know they are supported.
And we want young people to enter adulthood knowing their circumstances do not have to determine their future.
